| Military Order of Purple Heart Meeting July 9, 2008 Military Order of Purple Heart Chapter 177 opened meeting with prayer, Vice Commander O'Brien and pledge of allegiance to the flag by State Advocate tiggerman Williams. Next order of business was Secretary Benny Stanley gave finical report. Chapter has $6000.00 plus in checking account. No outstanding bills. At this time a motion was made by Vice commander O'Brien that all business be suspended due to special guest, motion was 2nd by Roosevelt Gipson. State Advocate Williams introduced Hillar Moore who is running for East Baton Rouge District Attroney Office. Hillar's father was also present. Hollar Moore senior was a World War II vet. Hillar Moore Jr. shared his vision for the District attorney office and asked for our support. Next to speak was Fred Fuentes, National Service Office for the Military Order of Purple Heart. he was introduced by Vice Commander O'Brien. Fred shared his commitment to helping veterans getting their benefits that they have earned. Fred had a great deal of information and will be asked to come to our meetings on a quarterly basis. Renee Autrey from Senator Vitters Office was our next guest and she was introduced by tiggerman. Renee has been assigned to help veterans with their claims while Magan Munson is own assignment. Renee will attend montly meetings. Ben Coghing also was a guest and Ben represents State Senator Bill Cassidy. Bill has been a freined to Military Order of Purple Heart and is running for the House of Representatives. Ben keeps our chapter abreast of all legislation that is presented own the senate floor concerning veterans. Bill Cassidy always asked for our input before He votes own veterans bills. Commander Doucet shared that the August meeting would be dedicated to Sgt. Gillmore memorial. Sgt. Gillmore was killed in Iraq and Chpater 177 will honor his life of serves and present a plaque to His mother in our heart felt appreciation. Commande Doucet also asked that all patriots keep Riley Diamond and family in our prayers. Riley family was faced with the death of a granddaughter. Meeting was closed with prayer by Vice Commander O'Brien. |
